For the first time ever, the Global Forum on Modern Direct Democracy is heading to Eastern Europe! From May 15th to 18th, 2024, the world's largest conference on direct democracy will take place in Bucharest, Romania. The Global Forum is organized in collaboration with our local host, Europuls<\/a>. This edition of the Global Forum will uniquely merge with Europuls' flagship event, the EUROSFAT<\/a> Forum, resulting in a joint organization promising an enriching and comprehensive experience for all participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 will be a pivotal year for democracy in Romania, as just two weeks after the forum, the European Union parliamentary elections will occur, followed later in the year by municipal and national elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Against this backdrop, the Global Forum 2024 will focus on a crucial theme: Trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trust in institutions, media, and citizens is essential for our democracies. It is concerning that less than one-fourth of Romanians trust their government, and only 12 percent trust the parliament. How can we expect to make decisions together and for each other without trust? At the same time, trust in the sovereignty of nations and a peaceful Europe faces an unprecedented challenge due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, affecting not only Romania but also neighboring Moldova and the entire Black Sea region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now is the time to reaffirm the fundamental value of democracy and redesign a more inclusive democracy. Join this important conversation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
